Still here…

Hi friends,

Lockdown three, who would have thought it. We are sharing a very surreal experience right now, I hope you and your loved ones are doing ok.

My name is Sara, I am a portrait and event photographer based in South London. Like a lot of you, business as usual has become unusual. For my industry, a year of restrictions has meant long awaited planned shoots having to be rescheduled and worst yet, cancelled. Although it has been tough from a business point of view, this forced hiatus has enabled me to explore and experiment within my field and create some of my favourite work thanks to the help of my local community.

During the first 2020 lockdown I began a ‘Through The Window’ project capturing lockdown life from the outside in. From home-schooling sessions and birthday celebrations, to coffee and crossword mornings. It was so great to meet my neighbours and hear and capture their stories of life in lockdown.

Unexpectedly, the project received praise from the National Portrait Gallery as one of the pics made it into the final 100 images selected for the 'Hold Still' online exhibition, spearheaded by the Duchess of Cambridge. My mum has never been so proud! I still can't quite believe it myself. You can check out the exhibition here (my image of Justin is number 42)

With the country now back in its third national lockdown, I have been thinking about the differences and new challenges this lockdown has brought compared to the first and thought it could be cool to revisit the project with a new set of portraits.

As before, I aim to capture this project through the window as a representation of our current situation where the outside world mainly exists through a window or virtually via the internet.

If you would like to help me build upon the ‘Through The Window’ series, I would love to hear from you via the contact form below. For those that took part in the first set, please do feel free to book in another session, it would be cool to catch up again.

Thank you for your time and I look forward to hearing from you,

Sara.

HOw do we get involved?

If you are interested in having your family/household portrait captured, please get in touch via the form below. I will send over a short questionnaire on your experience of life in lockdown and schedule in a ten minute session that suits you as part of my daily walk.

Who can get involved?

Everyone and anybody in the Tulse Hill, Herne Hill, Dulwich, West Norwood areas. If you think this might be of interest to a neighbour or friend in the area’s listed please feel free to pass this link on.

HOw will you keep this safe?

This project will be photographed in line with the current regulations of social distancing. I will be scheduling the sessions as part of my daily walk and will conduct the session from a safe distance, with the window acting as a further protective barrier. For any households wanting to participate in this project who do not have an accessible window for me to photograph through, I can capture a portrait of you at your doorstep/front garden with a long lens, whilst still respecting the social distancing regulations outlined by the government.

The session will take no longer than fifteen minutes. I will contact you via the email/telephone number provided when I am at your location and ready to start the session. No contact or flouting of the social distancing measures will be made.

Price?

This project is free of charge.

How do we receive The images?

You will receive around five high-res images edited in my signature style. The images will be uploaded to an online gallery where you will be able to download the files and order prints as they wish.

100% of profits made via the print store will be donated to The Trussell Trust a nationwide charity who provide food and support for people in crisis.

Any families and households who take part in this project will also be entitled to a 20% discount on a future portrait session with me when social distancing restrictions are lifted.
