Well, this isn’t what we had planned!

Hi friends,

What a strange and surreal time right now. The entire world is sharing an experience and a very hard one at that. I hope you and your loved ones are doing ok.

My name is Sara, I am a portrait and event photographer based in South London. Like all of you right now, business as usual has become unusual. For me, a summer of scheduled work, has been wiped from the diary in a matter of days and I now have a lot of free-time on my hands. After binge watching Netflix and Joe Rogan Podcasts, it is time to put myself to good use, doing what I do best, taking photos.

As a photographer, I am used to documenting people. People in love; people at work; people protesting for change. Musicians, actors, authors. Friends, families, lovers. Photographing people is what I do and although none of us could have imagined this episode to be a part of our lives, I feel it is something to be captured in a frame.

I have spent the last few weeks documenting a photo series of my neighbours and local community, living life in lockdown. It has been really amazing to meet my neighbours, hear their experiences of life right now, and provide them with a professional portrait, a ‘keepsake’ of sorts, of a time I am sure all of us are unlikely to forget. You can take a look at how the project is shaping up here.

The project has been really well received and am now wanting to extend the project to local business owners. Hairdressers, Pub landlords, homeware shops and more. Capturing the faces behind closed doors, sharing your stories and showcasing the effect the pandemic has had on local businesses.

If you would like to help me create this series, I would love to hear from you via the contact form below.

I look forward to meeting you through the window.

Stay well,

Sara.

HOw do we get involved?

Everyone and anybody in the Tulse Hill, Herne Hill, Dulwich, West Norwood areas. If you think this might be of interest to another local business or friend in the area’s listed please feel free to pass this link on.

HOw will you keep this safe?

This project will be photographed in line with the current regulations of social distancing. I will be scheduling the sessions as part of my daily walk and will conduct the session from a safe distance, with the window acting as a further protective barrier. For any businesses wanting to participate in this project who do not have an accessible window for me to photograph through, I can capture a portrait of you at your shopfront with a long lens, whilst still respecting the social distancing regulations outlined by the government.

The session will take no longer than ten minutes. I will contact you via the email/telephone number provided and we can work out a suitable time for the session. No contact or flouting of the social distancing measures will be made.

Price?

This project is free of charge.

How do we receive The images?

You will receive around five high-res images edited in my signature style. The images will be uploaded to an online gallery where you will be able to download the files and order prints as they wish.

100% of profits made via the print store will be donated to The Trussell Trust a nationwide charity who provide food and support for people in crisis.

Any local businesses who take part in this project will also be entitled to a 20% discount on a future photography session with me when social distancing restrictions are lifted.
